LIGO in Livingston Louisiana offers tours to homeschooled children as well as children attending public and private schools. Tours to LIGO and time in the Science Education Center are a unique opportunity for students to interact with scientists and engineers doing real science, and to experience hands on science through our interactive exhibit hall.
Time: Tours vary in length from 2 - 3 hours.
- 2-hour visit consists of a tour and time exploring in the exhibit hall (50 interactive science exhibits)
- 3-hour visit consists of a tour, extended time in the exhibit hall & time to eat lunch if across lunch time.
Cost: FREE
Lunches: Students & adults must bring their own lunches with them to LIGO as there are no facilities to buy lunches on-site!!!
Number of visitors: We expect to accommodate up to 64 people per tour.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Vehicles MUST REMAIN ON SITE DURING THE TOUR. LIGO Livingston is in a remote location & we are sensitive to vibrations due to traffic. For the safety of the children, adults MUST remain on-site with their school-children while at LIGO.
