Community Group Tours

Community tour groups are offered on a limited basis.

LIGO in Livingston Louisiana offers tours to community and special interest groups.  Unfortunately due to demand, most mornings during the academic year are booked with school children.  We will also sometimes run tours in conjunction with Science Saturdays.  If your group is 15 or fewer then we would suggest that you just plan to come out on a Science Saturday.

Time:  Tours typically take 1 1/2 - 2 hours.

Cost:  There is no cost (yes the tours are free)

Lunches:  We have no facilities to buy lunches on-site, but if you are coming around lunch time, you are welcome to bring your lunch and eat it outside at our pavilion.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Vehicles MUST REMAIN ON SITE DURING THE TOUR.  LIGO Livingston is in a remote location & we are sensitive to vibrations, therefore for the safety of the visitors and in order to keep LIGO's instrument working well, visitors are not allowed to be dropped off for a tour.
