This video is the 1st episode of the multi-part Advanced LIGO Documentary Project by Les Guthman. This episode illustrates how LIGO's suspension systems worked to isolate the mirrors from ground vibrations thereby allowing LIGO to detect gravitational waves.  In addition the end of the video includes a snapshot of staff member Janeen Romie, the Detector Engineering Group Leader at LIGO, Livingston.
