LIGO to Resume Observations after Maintenance/Upgrades Break
News Release • June 4, 2025
After taking a long break to perform instrument upgrades and some important lifecycle maintenance activities, LIGO's dual detectors will resume observations on June 11, 2025. Additionally, this segment of the fourth observing run of the Advanced Detector era, designated "O4 C", has also now been extended by six weeks, from the original end date of October 7, 2025, to November 18, 2025, to increase overlap with early science operations of the Rubin Observatory.
This change is now reflected in the broader global gravitational-wave detector network observing plan: https://observing.docs.ligo.org/plan/.
