Bringing LIGO to You

The LIGO Hanford Observatory provides opportunities to those who either can't make it out to site for a visit or would like a visit from a LIGO staff member to their event or classroom. If you would like to request any of the following services, please fill out this Google form, which can also be found embedded below.

Guest Speakers

If you're interested in a guest speaker for your classroom, club, society, or other community event, we will be happy to send a staff member to give a talk about the science of LIGO.

Virtual Visits

LIGO can offer groups of 15 or more a virtual visit to the site if your group is unable to travel to the facility itself. A member of the observatory staff will connect with your group virtually, give an introduction to LIGO, give a behind-the-scenes look at what takes place in the control room, and answer your questions.

Booths

Are you planning a career fair or STEM Night? LIGO would love to staff a booth at your event! We can provide information on LIGO careers or hands-on activities for student groups as appropriate.

Classroom Activities

If you can't bring your classroom group out to LIGO for a field trip, but you still want your students to connect with LIGO in some fashion, we may be able to visit you in your classroom and provide a short introduction to LIGO along with a hands-on activity for your group.

LIGO Hanford Observatory is now scheduling outreach for the spring 2024 season. Requests for fall 2024 will be accepted beginning July 1, 2024.  Please fill out the request form below to schedule your event. We will contact you upon receipt of your request.
