LIGO's Anti-Harassment Statement

As an observatory operated jointly by Caltech and MIT, it is the policy of LIGO Laboratory to provide a work and academic environment free of unlawful harassment (“harassment”). Harassment is the creation of a hostile or intimidating environment in which inappropriate conduct, because of its severity and/or persistence, is likely to interfere with an individual’s work or education, or adversely affects an individual’s living conditions. Harassment in any form, based on sex, race, color, age, national origin, ethnicity, ancestry, physical or mental disability, medical condition, genetic information, pregnancy, marital status, religion, gender, gender expression or gender identity, sexual orientation, military or veteran status, or any other characteristic protected by state or federal laws (“protected characteristics”), is unlawful and is strictly prohibited, as are all forms of sexual intimidation, exploitation, and violence. Both Caltech and MIT are committed to educating the community in ways to prevent its occurrence.
