Photon Calibrator Subsystem

Design Requirements Document

The design requirements document is written and available for review here.

These requirements are based primarily on the Systems design requirements specified by Peter Fritschel’s global actuation analysis.

Conceptual Design Document

The conceptual design document is written and available for review here.

Here you can find a rudimentary analysis of the science needs and potential designs composed by Mike Zucker.

New! A PowerPoint presentation of the responses to the design review comments is available here.

Proof of Principle Experiment

A prototype of the photon drive system was built and tested on the 40-meter interferometer at Caltech in 2001 by a pair of SURF students, Aiden Crook and Thomas Essinger-Hileman, supervised by Mike Smith.

Preliminary Design Phase

The Preliminary Design phase follows the Design Requirements Review and culminates in a Preliminary Design Review.
