This mpeg animation is created by Giancarlo Cella's mechanics model. The code is composed of three components, (1) defining the configuration, (2) the initialization and (3) the actual simulation. The main program which generates this motion calls several routines to define the objects involved and how they are connected. Then it calls a routine to start the simulation. As this example illustrates, one can construct complex systems by combining elementary objects, not by writing a formula for a specific configuration. When this package is integrated into the e2e framework, the end user will use a graphical user interface program to construct mechanical structure. The merit of using this package in the e2e framework is two folds : (1) anyone with or without programming skill can easily simulate his/her design and (2) the performance of the mechanical structure can be tested in conjunction with optic systems. |
