Updates

Hot off the presses...

12/15/2010: Mathematica 8 has been released. There don't appear to be any new compatibility issues except that some calculation notebooks have a few instances of the single character form of the substitution operator, , which is not recognised and needs to be changed to the two-character form, ->.

12/02/2009: Folded in support for cables originally written by 2008 SURF student Julian Earl Freed-Brown. [Toolkit page]

01/06/2009: Toolkit updates for Mathematica 7. Whereas there were major compatibility issues in going from Mathematica v5 to v6, there are no additional ones in going to Mathematica v7. However PendUtil v4.0 takes advantage of the new parallel computation support to provide much faster calculation on multiple-CPU machines and has a bunch of other bug fixes and new features. [Toolkit page]

01/11/08: 20071119bswireHWsymrot - Norna's design of 19 Nov 2007 (T040027-01/02): wires in final stage and a 0.9° symmetric horizontal wedge. The structure is rotated to restore the front surface to pointing in the +x direction. [Triple Xtra-Lite page]

01/11/08: 20071119bswireNW - Norna's design of 19 Nov 2007 (T040027-01/02): wires in final stage, no wedge. [Triple Xtra-Lite page]

07/21/07: Quad Xtra-Lite Lateral model v5.1.Revised naming of attachment points (+y=left, -y=right) to restore right-handedness of coordinate system. Corrected yaw/roll swap error in Mathematica v6 sections of eigenplot[]. Changed default values of upper two mass display sizes (nx, ny, nz, ux,uy,uz) to match controls prototype. [Quad Xtra-Lite Lateral page] Note: this is an urgent update if you're using Mathematica v6 or if you're working with wedged models. Otherwise not so much.

07/20/07: Triple Xtra-Lite model v5.1. Revised naming of attachment points (left->+y, right->-y) to restore right-handedness of coordinate system disturbed in v4.1. Fixed yaw/pitch swap error in v6 section of eigenplot[]. [Triple Xtra-Lite page] Note: this is an urgent update if you're using Mathematica v6 or if you're working with wedged models. Otherwise not so much.

06/22/07: Re-release of case mcproto20030123 (as-built all-metal MC prototype of 1/15/03) for Triple Xtra-Lite both with and without Five-Bead Violin Modes. [Triple Xtra-Lite page] [Triple Xtra-Lite Five-Bead page]

06/21/07: Updated Triple Xtra-Lite Five-Bead - updates for Mathematica v6. Made loading of several packages conditional on $VersionNumber. Major rewrite of eigenplot[] to use either old v5 code or new v6 code depending on $VersionNumber. Cleanup of instructions and ::usage tags. Removed obsolete mentions of mbel. [Triple Xtra-Lite Five-Bead page]

06/20/07: Updated Triple Xtra-Lite - updates for Mathematica v6. Made loading of several packages conditional on $VersionNumber. Major rewrite of eigenplot[] to use either old v5 code or new v6 code depending on $VersionNumber. Cleanup of instructions and ::usage tags. Removed obsolete mentions of mbel. [Triple Xtra-Lite page]

06/19/07: Five cases Quad Xtra-Lite Lateral Five-Bead Violin Mode model matching those for the non-violin mode version: for the test masses (20061213TM), the compensation plate for the ITM (20061213CP) the reaction mass for the ETM (20061213ERM), and the controls prototype with and without asymmetry (20060509controlsmainasbuiltoffdiag, 20060509controlsmainasbuiltsym). [Quad Xtra-Lite Lateral page]

06/18/07: New Quad Xtra-Lite Lateral Five-Bead Violin Mode model. This supersedes the non-lateral violin mode model as the preferred one for AdvLIGO. [Quad Xtra-Lite Lateral Five-Bead page]

06/17/07: Update of five cases Quad Xtra-Lite Lateral model: for the test masses (20061213TM), the compensation plate for the ITM (20061213CP) the reaction mass for the ETM (20061213ERM), and the controls prototype with and without asymmetry (20060509controlsmainasbuiltoffdiag, 20060509controlsmainasbuiltsym). [Quad Xtra-Lite Lateral page]

06/16/07: Update of Quad Xtra-Lite Lateral model with Mathematica 6 fixes. [Quad Xtra-Lite Lateral page]

06/16/07: Update of Quad Xtra-Lite Five-Bead Violin Mode model with Mathematica 6 fixes. (Note: this update is for completeness only - this model has been superseded by a version with support lateral blade compliance - see above.) [Quad Xtra-Lite Five-Bead page]

06/14/2007: Toolkit updates for Mathematica 6. These updates are recommended for all users whether you're upgrading to v6 immediately or not. However to do plots of mode shapes in v6, you'll also need upgraded versions of all the models. See the v6 section of the documentation page for more details. [Toolkit page]
