Recommended FEA Packages
  • One of the recommended FEA package for Advanced LIGO is ANSYS (Classic and Workbench).
  • ANSYS 11 Service Pack 1 - as of January 2008
    • ANSYS is a license server and must be launched while connected to server
    • However ANSYS can be checked out via ANSYS FLEXlm License Manager

Setup (32 bit, 64 bit and local)

1) 32 bit Desktop systems
  • Min 2 GB real memory
  • swap space set for 3 GB
  • 100 GB of space on separate drive used as scratch space when running large models
  • permanent files should be moved to another drive or off-line after runs complete
  • 10,000 or 15,000 RPM drive
2) 64 bit systems
  • 8 GB memory and 2 processors
  • 10,000 or 15,000 RPM drive
  • 200 GB free space
  • jobs run on separate stripped partition

  • ANSYS Product Launcher - select unique name and location
  • CFX Mesher - location of files ?????????????????
  • Tools / Options / Common Settings / User Interface / File Management / Folder for Temporary Files ????????????
  • Tools / Options / Simulation / Analysis Settings and Solution / Analysis Data Management / Temp location for Analysis folders ??????????????
