The following materials are needed: A CV and Publication List (with referred publications clearly marked with an *). A completed application form (the form may be found at Visitor Application Form ). NOTE: If you are a foreign national you must also fill out this Foreign National Intake Form FNIF A Work Plan - to include a statement of what the applicant expects to accomplish during the LIGO visit. Note that a final write up of actual accomplishments is also required and should be submitted at the end of the visit. Application deadline date: Long-term visitors should submit their applications at least three months prior to their desired start date. Short-term visitors should submit their applications at least two months prior to their desired start date. Foreign applicants who require visas need to add on an additional three-four weeks. Selection process: Evaluation of the applications will be made by the LIGO Staffing Committee - an internal committee whose members are appointed by the LIGO Director. The Committee evaluations will be conducted once all the necessary material is received (CV, Publication List, Visitor Application Form, Work Plan). Financial Arrangements: In order to leverage the funds available for the Visitors Program, the expectation is that long-term visitors (those whose visits last from six months to a year) will receive at least half of their salary and benefits from their home institutions. The remaining portion of the salary and benefits would come from the Visitor Program funds. The exact terms of reimbursement of salary, travel, subsistence and other expenses, are subject to negotiation between the applicant and the LIGO Laboratory. Short-term visitors (longer than a month, but less than six months) will receive travel and subsistence reimbursements, but no salary support.
